INDEFINITE ARTICLE - A - An

A é usado no singular, diante de consoantes. Significa: um, uma.

AN é usado no singular, diante de vogal ou h mudo (h não pronunciado: an hour- uma hora). Significa um, uma.

A (AN) não tem plural.
